Led a team of engineers to create a new business line where I created the roadmap in collaboration with a product lead, managed stakeholders, reviewed the engineer’s code, developed parts of the system, and created 3 innovations that are patented. Designed and led the implementation of passwordless authentication for guest checkout. The solution is being patented, and as a result of this project, we unlocked a projected 300%+ increase in rewards redemptions. Mentored software engineers and tech leads to grow their software design skills; Redefined the RFC process and introduced ADRs to allow higher visibility and a greater level of autonomy. Led the effort to turn project-based teams into customer-focused, cross-functional, and agile squads having introduced OKRs combined with faster feedback loops via experimentation, feature toggling, and data dashboards.

Directed cross-functional teams that focused on experimental and high ambiguity initiatives; Alongside my product partner, we formed OKRs, took ideas from incubation to growth and scaled successful experiments to tens of millions of users. Directed and led the effort of increasing our agility and system flexibility by breaking down the on-prem monolithic system into cloud-based microservices and introduced key enabling initiatives in collaboration with the executive team. Mentored architects, principal engineers, and engineering managers; Emphasized engineering mastery by introducing technical guidelines and quality KPIs. Introduced DevOps metrics and coached teams to improve our engineering and operational health, which resulted in an uplift in our engineering quality of output and took us from deploying once a month to a few times a day.

Co-founded a new business line (88motors SDN. BHD.) focused on the automotive C2B marketplace which doubled our GMV and unlocked a successful exit. Partnered with the CEO, CMO and COO to innovate on our product and create cross-functional teams that operated autonomously. Introduced DevOps by hands-on working with teams automating operations. By doing so we went from five weeks mobile app release cycle down to two weeks. Developed the Ruby backend APIs, deployed it on AWS, and used Redis, PostgreSQL, and Elasticsearch which was architected for scale and handled six folds increase in traffic from marketing spend within a few weeks.
